Milling cutters can be solid made of speed steel and tipped made of hard metal. While solid tools cannot be changed, end mills can be changed. An important issue in milling cutters is the number of teeth. The number of teeth is selected according to the material. In soft materials, large chips are removed and the number of teeth should be small and the gap between the teeth should be large. In hard materials, the number of teeth should be high and the gap between teeth should be less.
